SHER is partnering with CEMA to promote the 2017 Hurricane PrepareAthon week. From Monday, July 31 through Friday, August 4, themed days will focus on preparing residents for disaster.
- Monday, July 31 – Severe Weather Warning Day
- Tuesday, August 1 – Preparedness Kit Day
- Wednesday, August 2 – Insurance Review Day
- Thursday, August 3 – Evacuation Planning Day
- Friday, August 4 – Business Preparation Day
PrepareAthon Telethon
Friday, August 4 is also the PrepareAthon Telethon Day. The telethon runs from 6:00 AM until 8:00 PM; residents can call in and register for the county’s Community Notification System. CEMA staff and volunteers will be in CEMA’s Emergency Operations Center to take calls to register residents or help them update their information in the Community Notification System. The telethon number is 912-644-8899.
